Writing 101

What: If you want to improve your writing or communication skills, this four-hour course is for you! The price is $50.00 per person and covers grammar, punctuation, commonly misused and misspelled words, writing for clarity and consistency, and copyright laws. A workbook is included. From Manuscript to Publication
When: April 3, 10, 17 & 24, 2010; noon to 4 pm
Where: The "Bea" Hive – 13 Allenhurst Ave., OKC, OK. Graduation will be at a surprise location.
ABOUT THE COURSE: This 16-hour course guides authors through the process of publishing their own books. It includes panel discussions with authors, editors, book manufacturers, publishers and marketing experts. The instructor is Made By Me Publications, Inc. President Lucinda Marie Thierry, who will cover all of the material in her book, Quick Reference Guide for Self-publishing. Students may purchase the book at a special discounted rate of $10.80 (tax included), but it is not a requirement.
PREREQUISITE: Students must present a completed manuscript on the first day of class. The manuscript does not have to be edited. Students will not submit manuscripts to the instructor, but they will refer to them in class. Students are welcome to bring a laptop to class to view electronic versions of their manuscripts, but it is not required.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENT: To graduate, students may not miss more than one class. All graduates will receive a class photo and will be featured in a future issue of The Written Word newsletter.
